Self-Isolation Pilot numbers – 9 Oct 2021

Published: 11 October 2021

Numbers as at 5pm, Saturday 9 October

Self-isolation is part of the Government’s 'Reconnecting New Zealanders' plan for re-opening borders and allowing more people to visit and return home to New Zealand without the requirement to enter into MIQ. The Self-Isolation Pilot will test some of the systems and processes that would be needed to roll out self-isolation more widely.

The pilot is primarily aimed at travellers required to travel internationally from New Zealand for business purposes, including sole traders.

On return to New Zealand, these travellers will be required to self-isolate at an approved location for 14 days.

Participants will be selected through the Expression of Interest (EOI) process, which is now closed.

Final numbers

  • 603 Expressions of Interest received
  • Representing 749 people
  • By arrival airport
    • 85% Auckland
    • 15% Christchurch

If you have submitted an EOI, you will hear by Friday 15 October whether your EOI has been provisionally selected for the pilot.
