Positive case - managed isolation facility staff member
Published: 18 August 2020
The Ministry of Health have today confirmed a man who works as a maintenance worker at the Rydges Hotel managed isolation facility in Auckland has tested positive for COVID-19.
The man does not have any routine contact with guests as part of his role. Partial genome sequencing results indicate his case is not linked to the current community cluster in Auckland. No other cases linked to the man have been identified to date.
As soon as the positive test was established a series of actions were immediately undertaken at the facility, including an immediate lock down as soon as the positive test was returned, a thorough cleaning of shared areas, close contacts being identified and put into self-isolation until they were tested, and a close analysis of movements including a CCTV review undertaken.
Further testing of all returnees and staff is also being carried out.
