Summary of the statistics
At 9am 313 people were moved into the queue — this represented 468 passengers. This was lower than last week and is the lowest number we have seen since the virtual lobby was introduced. It is likely this is due to the upcoming commencement of Steps 1 and 2 of Reconnecting New Zealand, which means eligible travellers from Australia will no longer need to come into MIQ from the end of February, and rest of world from mid March. The numbers of people participating in the lobby grew a little throughout the room release - 454 people were in the queue in total, representing 663 passengers.
289 people took the opportunity to secure MIQ vouchers – this represented 454 passengers from 55 countries, and across 290 rooms. The number of available rooms was 4,528.
Rooms for today’s release were available across February, March and April. The room release finished with 4,238 rooms not taken: 476 were left for February; 2,819 were left for March; 943 were left for April.
Approximately 28% of people who participated in the room release today were based in New Zealand.
We have already brought nearly 227,000 people back to New Zealand safely.
